Framed face paintings
I took advantage of some time off between Christams and New Years and I framed the face paintings from Phoenix.
One is mounted on a canvass - backgroud graffitti style.
The other one is mounted on a piece of altered canvas. I used unstretched canvass, caulking, papers, found objects and paint. In both cases, I sew the faces on the fabric.

Sweater felting
I happened upon some books about felting at Chapters - and of course I had to try it. first, I destroyed my lovely alpaca fiber mittens. I almost cried ...
But then I wanted revenge - and I bought 3 sweaters from the Salvation Army. This time I did it the right way. I washed them in cold water, then in water progressivly warmer until I got the felting I wanted. I also dried them in the dryer on medium heat.
I used the body of the sweaters to cover pillows and I made mittens and hand warmers from the sleeves.

It took me so long to upload those 2 drawings that I almost gave up ... I could have made 2 more sketches instead. Surely I must be making a mistake. There has to be an easier way ...

2009 ...
.. is here... already.
I recently discovered Danny Gregory’s work. Amazing. I am not a big fan of the New Year’s resolutions, but I decided to try sketching every day for the month of January. Then I will decide if I continue or not.
My drawing skills are not great. What I see on Danny’s site and on the EDM blog is intimidating. I am hoping to keep life happenings alive. When December comes and I look back, the year is full of “black holes” – days and weeks that I do not recall. Like I was asleep for ¾ of the year. Of my life. I am hoping to change that. Here are the first two sketches:
